Troubleshooting MAXEasy
Issue | Potential Cause | Solution |
Streaks, Haze, Oily Residue, Film, Spots, Smears, etc. | Using too much product. Excess product dries, leaving streaks, haze, residue, film or spots. | Use only 1-4 sprays per panel. Buff off excess product with slightly damp (with clean water) microfiber towels immediately before it cures. Using the SoftSorb Drying Towel allows you to easily smooth out these areas as you dry. MAXEasy begins curing rapidly and reaches full cure in 24-48 hours. Direct sunlight accelerates curing. |
Applying in direct sunlight. Product cures too quickly, causing streaks, haze, or spots. | Apply MAXEasy out of direct sunlight.
Not rinsing thoroughly. | Rinse thoroughly from the bottom up to spread MAXEasy evenly.
Letting excess product dry on the surface, leaving streaks, spots, or haze. | Wipe off excess product immediately with a slightly damp (with clean water) microfiber towel.
Sections dry before you rinse, leading to streaks, haze, or spots. | Move quicker or work in sections to ensure each area is rinsed and dried promptly. Do not let sections dry before wiping off any excess product.
Soaps with wax or protectants interfere with MAXEasy. | Use a pH-neutral soap without wax or protectants, such as MAXWash.
Old products such as waxes or sealants prevent MAXEasy from bonding properly. | Strip old wax, sealant, or protectant before applying MAXEasy.
Smears are usually a result of using a poor quality drying towel such as a chamois (“shammy”). | Use a high quality drying towel such as the MAXL SoftSorb Drying Towel to completely dry all surfaces.
Used most of bottle or more than 2-4oz while applying to a vehicle’s wet surfaces. | Spraying too much product. | Use only 1-4 sprays per panel. Space your spray lines apart about 18" to 24" (1.5ft to 2ft). The hood is probably the only panel that requires 4 sprays. You do not have to spray product on every square inch. |
Use the YellowCel Hypersoft Sponge or the Yellowcell Hypersoft Mini to spread product around large areas before rinsing. This requires less sprays of MAXEasy and will conserve product.
Use the method of applying to a dry surface.
Doesn’t bead as well as the advertisement videos. | Not allowing 24-48hrs for MAXEasy to fully cure and reach maximum performance. | Allow 24-48 hours before judging the performance. The initial beading during the wet application is only the beginning stages of hydrophobicity. MAXEasy becomes drastically more hydrophobic after 24-48 hours when it has fully cured, especially in direct sunlight. |
Contaminants on surface | Remove contaminants to create a smooth clean surface for MAXEasy to bond to. Use MAXRemove to remove contaminants. A clay towel can also be used along with MAXRemove to deep clean and remove heavy contamination.
Excessive amount of product | Use slightly damp (with clean water) microfiber towels to buff off excess product.
Surface feels rough after application. | Surface was not clean or free of dirt, debris, and/or contaminants. | Wash vehicle first. Apply MAXEasy on clean surfaces as directed. |
