Why was I charged shipping on Amazon for MAXL products?Updated 2 months ago
At MAXL, we strive to offer the best shopping experience for our customers. However, there are certain scenarios where shipping charges may apply when purchasing our products on Amazon. Here are the common reasons:
1. Stock Availability (FBA vs. FBM)
We use both Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) and Fulfillment by Merchant (FBM) to ensure our products are available to you at all times.
- Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA): Products stocked at and fulfilled by Amazon typically qualify for Amazon Prime, offering free two-day shipping to Prime members.
- Fulfillment by Merchant (FBM): If our FBA stock runs out, Amazon may switch to selling the product directly from our warehouse (FBM). FBM orders do not qualify for Amazon Prime benefits, and therefore, shipping charges will apply.
2. Prime Membership Status
- Amazon Prime Members: If you are an Amazon Prime member, you will receive free shipping on eligible items fulfilled by Amazon (FBA). If the product is only available as FBM, standard shipping rates will apply.
- Non-Prime Members: If you are not an Amazon Prime member, Amazon will charge you shipping regardless of whether the product is fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) or by the merchant (FBM).
3. "Free Shipping" "Ain't Free"!
It's important to understand that there is no such thing as truly "free" shipping. The cost of shipping from any company, including Amazon, is covered in one of the following ways:
- Built into Product Pricing: Some companies include the shipping cost in the price of their products. This means the product price might be higher, but you won't see a separate shipping charge at checkout. This is what most companies do who offer "free shipping".
- Charged Separately: Shipping costs are disclosed and added as a separate charge during the checkout process where they are transparent. MAXL feels this is a more honest and truthful approach.
- Membership Fees: Services like Amazon Prime charge a membership fee that includes benefits like free shipping on eligible items. The shipping cost is effectively offset or covered by this membership fee.
4. Our Commitment to Transparency
At MAXL, we believe in honesty and transparency. Instead of hiding shipping costs in the price of our products, we choose to show the actual shipping charges that carriers charge. This approach allows us to keep our product prices truthful and transparent for our customers. You will always see the actual cost of shipping at checkout on the MAXL.com website, so you know exactly what you are paying for.
