Will MAXEasy Work on Gelcoat and Remove the Scum Line and Water Spots?Updated 5 months ago

Effectiveness on Gelcoat and Water Spots

MAXEasy works great on gelcoat surfaces. However, for removing the scum line and water spots, we recommend using MAXRemove first. MAXRemove is designed to eliminate abrasive particles, stains, contaminants, and water spots effectively.

How to Use MAXRemove:

  1. Application: Apply MAXRemove full strength on the affected area. Allow it to sit for a minute or two without letting it dry. If needed, mist with more MAXRemove or water to keep wet.
  2. Agitation: Use a YellowCell Hypersoft Sponge to gently agitate the water spots or a synthetic clay such as a clay/decontamination towel for a more aggressive approach. Repeat if necessary.
  3. Follow-Up: If the water spots are not showing signs of diminishing after a second application, they may need to be mechanically removed with a mild abrasive polish. The YellowCell Hypersoft Mini is great to use with fine polishes to remove water spots as well as fine scratches.

Prepping for MAXEasy:

  1. Clean Surface: After using MAXRemove, clean the surface with MAXWash or another pH-neutral soap to remove any remaining residues.
  2. Apply MAXEasy: Once the surface is prepared, apply MAXEasy as directed. This will help prevent future build-up of scum lines and water spots.

Additional Information:

  • Hydrophobic Properties: MAXEasy enhances the hydrophobic properties of your boat, making it easier to clean in the future.
  • Versatility: MAXEasy can be used on gelcoat, fiberglass, metal, and various other marine surfaces. It is unaffected by saltwater and provides long-lasting protection.
